Nothing packs more punch than your name in a national magazine or the home page of Scary Mommy. I want to make that happen for you: not once, but on repeat! I am a trusted publicity resource with media placements on The Today Show, as well as in Vanity Fair, Better Homes & Gardens, Elle, Redbook, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Women’s Health and dozens of other national and regional publications.
“I'm not only the Hair Club president, but I'm also a client.” (Remember that gem?!) As a shop owner myself, I offer a unique perspective on PR: I think like a client, not a publicist. I know personally that 1 press mention is nice, 10 is nicer, 100 would be preferable. I don’t stop at 1 or 10 or even 100. I chase publicity with the same hunger and fervor that you would for your own company, except I have the relationships to deliver the placements.
My strategy is similar to a farming co-op: like-minded creators, sharing one set of resources. I only accept a small number of clients with a shared “flair” ( “the farmers”), and we share in my resources, press relations and track record for media placements (“the bounty!”).
I started my e-commerce company in 2009 in my Boston apartment with a $5,000 savings bond from my grandmother, and I know firsthand how laughable 7 figure retainers are to smalls businesses. It doesn’t matter if they’re “worth it”: they are unobtainable to self-made business owners. I decided to share my PR process because of my deep love for creation, creators and creativity, and because nothing thrills me more than seeing a success story in print on the glossy page of a national publication.
I excel at creating standalone PR moments (like a great mention in a huge magazine’s gift guide), but also at creating big, buzzy moments that result in a domino content sharing effect. For example, Scary Mommy borrows an article from Pop Sugar, who then inspires Parents.com to add similar content, which in turn causes George Takei to tell his 10.5 million followers about the trending story, and then that splinters into 50 mid-sized blog content shares, etc.
